Shaq to Boston

Shaquille O'Neal appears to be on his way to the Boston Celtics. I don't hate the move at all. He's a lot like Perk, but better offensively, and if he's signing for the minimum then why not? Rondo-Allen-Pierce-Garnett-Shaq with Jermaine O'Neal, Glen Davis, Von Wafer, Nate Robinson, Avery Bradley off the bench. I like it, and now they don't have to wait and pray for Perkins to get healthy.

But can you imagine if this was the team in 2003?

2003 Stats (02-03 season)

Shaquille O'Neal - 27.5 pts, 11.1 rebs
Kevin Garnett - 23 pts, 13.4 rebs
Paul Pierce - 25.9 pts, 7.3 rebs
Ray Allen - 22.5 pts, 44% 3pt
Jermaine O'Neal - 20.8 pts, 10.3 rebs

Shaq & KG were 1st Team All-NBA
Pierce & Jermaine were 3rd Team All-NBA
All 4 were All-Stars

Check out some of my favorite Shaq moments over the years below...

Picking Team USA

The World Championships are this month out in Turkey. Team USA has narrowed down their roster to 15 players, but only 12 can make the trip. Who are the odd men out?

Guards:
Chauncey Billups, Nuggets
Eric Gordon, Clippers
Derrick Rose, Bulls
Rajon Rondo, Celtics
Russell Westbrook, Thunder
Stephen Curry, Warriors

Forwards:
Kevin Durant, Thunder
Rudy Gay, Grizzlies
Jeff Green, Thunder
Danny Granger, Pacers
Andre Iguodala, 76ers
Lamar Odom, Lakers
Kevin Love, Timberwolves

Centers:
Tyson Chandler, Mavericks
Brook Lopez, Nets

What do you think? Very guard/wing heavy for sure. Kevin Durant is the only lock to make this team, and certainly the only lock to start. I got Derrick Rose running the show for this team, but you could make an argument for any of the guards to start.

Brian Robb (from CelticsHub.com) and I debated who should make this team, the podcast will be posted soon. I'll wait til that comes out to reveal my team, but I'll let you know right now that we only agreed on 1 of the cuts.

Should be interesting and for basketball fans the Olympics and World Championships always provide a fun and unique atmosphere. None of the Gold medalists from 2008 are going to be playing this time around, giving another group of stars a change to shine on the international stage.

Jorge Rivera on 98.5 The Sports Hub

I had a chance to talk with UFC Middleweight and Massachusetts native Jorge Rivera when I was filling in for DA on The DA Show last Thursday and Friday from 7:00pm-12:00am on 98.5 The Sports Hub in Boston, MA.

Unfortunately for Jorge, an injury in training forced him out of UFC 118 at the TD Garden in Boston at the end of the month. He still talked about the upcoming card and his thoughts on Anderson Silva, Randy Couture vs. James Toney, and the Red Sox.
