Week 5 Fantasy Football Pick Ups

Quarterbacks:
Shaun Hill, St. Louis Rams
Should be back this week and is facing a terrible Eagles pass defense.

Alex Smith, Kansas City Chiefs
Tough match up against his former team in the 49ers this week, but he has 3 TD passes in each of the past two weeks and looks like a solid bye week replacement.

Runningbacks:
Jerick McKinnon, Minnesota Vikings
Mentioned him a few times in past week after AP was put on double secret probation by the Vikings.  Asiata is the guy, but McKinnon should be a big part of Minnesota's offense.

Darrin Reaves, Carolina Panthers
RBs are dropping like flies in Carolina, I'm not saying he's good, just that he's currently healthy.

Wide Receivers:
Brandon LaFell, New England Patriots
He's not great.  But he did have 6 catches for 119 yards and a TD on Monday Night.  Maybe some was in garbage time but the team won't play Aaron Dobson or Kenbrell Thompkins.  LaFell was on the field for ALL 50 offensive snaps.  I'm not going to play him, but own him in deep leagues.

Jarius Wright, Minnesota Vikings
How about this guy?  8 catches for 132 yards on Sunday?  Sure, why not?  He could be a dude Teddy Bridgewater likes throwing to, so grab him and see what happens.

It was Derek Jeter's final game at Yankee Stadium, so what better time for Adam Jones and Rich Keefe to reenact John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman calling his first at-bat.

Week 4 Bye: Bengals, Browns, Broncos, Rams, Cardinals, Seahawks

Week 4 Fantasy Football Picks Ups

QB Kirk Cousins, Washington Redskins
You should have picked him up last week. But if you're league is slow grab him now and start him Thursday against the Giants.

RB Lorenzo Taliaferro, Baltimore Ravens
Can I pronounce it?  Nope. But I can click "add player."  He was great last week, but Bernard Pierce did not play.  See what happens.

RB Branden Oliver, San Diego Chargers
Danny Woodhead is done for the year, Ryan Mathews is out a month and Donald Brown is Donald Brown. In steps Oliver?  Why not.

WR Josh Brown, Arizona Cardinals
He's a quick little guy who gets in the end zone. So much attention on Fitzgerald and Floyd he's getting a chance to make plays.  He's on the bye this week, so a nice sneaky pick up.

Defenses!!!

Miami Dolphins
Vs. Oakland in London!  London game sucks, it's my new theory to stream the best of the two London D's.  Miami isn't great but that Oakland O stinks.

San Diego Chargers
Home against Jacksonville. Enough said.

Washington Redskins
Let's try that Thursday night D thing again, home vs the Giants.

Rich Reviews: Gotham (First Episode)

I should start by saying that I am obsessed with Batman.  I've read a ton of the comic books (or graphic novels, because I'm an adult), I actually like all of the movies (well the Clooney one was a piece of trash but I still found some enjoyment in it.)  The video games are some of the best ever and how about the cartoon growing up?

I still find myself more a fan of Marvel Comics (X-Men, Fantastic 4, Avengers, Iron Man, Daredevil, Spider-Man, etc., etc.) compared to DC (Batman, Superman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman... Aquaman?).  But Batman, and his cast of villains, is my favorite.  The comic books graphic novels are off the charts good.  It's not just Batman, but the characters and the setting that make it great.  Gotham City is the best location in either comic universe and the Batman supporting cast is unbeatable.

So, Fox released Gotham on Monday night.  The show is NOT about Batman, instead the origin of some of the notable characters.  Yes Bruce Wayne is in it, but the show begins with the infamous moment of his parents, Thomas & Martha, being gunned down in an alley during a mugging.

If this show lasts long enough maybe we will see Batman, but that's not the selling point here.  Jim Gordon is the main character, his early days on the GCPD.  We also see young villains in their infancy stages and roles within Gotham.

One criticism that is fair, is it seems like they are trying to shoehorn classic characters into the story.  Without giving anything away, there is at least one character in episode one that seems really forced.  Maybe they go somewhere with it, we'll see.

There are so many stories already written, the writers of the show need to pick and choose and create their own without getting buried and confusing the viewer.  I just hope they don't feel the need to throw villain after villain after villain and try to tie them all in together at such young ages.   To be fair, if they did not include any of the classic enemies I'd be saying, "Hey, where are the bad guys I know?"

The first episode showed a lot of promise.  The acting is good.  There was action, and they didn't drag their feet in setting up the plot for the season.

I'm in.  Of course it would have to be AWFUL for me not to be.

Tom Brady's Pre NFL Resume Is Strong, To Quite Strong

Very impressive.  And he didn't even include a head shot!  That might have been too much.

That's a FULL resume for a dude right out of college.  Mine was full of big words that essentially said I did nothing on my internship and I worked in a factory for two summers. But then again Tom and I don't really have much in common.

Keefer Madness on iTunes

Well technically, The Adam Jones Show is on iTunes, and apparently has been for awhile. I'm getting wind of this now and want to pass it along.  Each night a number of segments are posted to iTunes including Keefer Madness.

If you miss the Madness at 9:55pm on 98.5 The Sports Hub, you can go to the website at CBSBostonSports.com or search it out on iTunes.  Give it a download and a listen!

Have a Keefer Madness idea or story to pass along?  Feel free to tweet me @Keefe21 or shoot me an e-mail at rich.keef@cbsradio.com. Don't ask me why they kept the last "e" off.

Fantasy Football Is Fun, Right?

We're not even two full weeks through the NFL season and already what an absolute mess.  The only solace in the fact that your fantasy team is ruined, is there is a great chance your friends team sucks just as much.  Quick recap.

Adrian Peterson beats his kid(s).

Ray Rice beats his wife.

Wes Welker does Molly.

Josh Gordon smokes weed.

Jamaal Charles, A.J. Green, DeSean Jackson, Knowshon Moreno, Robert Griffin III, Tavon Austin all were injured early in Week 2.

Eric Decker, Ryan Mathews, Vernon Davis all played a little longer before leaving with injuries and not returning.

Brandon Marshall is "reportedly" hurt and probably won't play, and then scores 3 TDs on Sunday Night.

That's a pretty good team right there (minus Rice and RG3, they suck now).  But who's the next star to get hurt or break the law?  Plenty of weeks left....

The waiver wire is going to break this week.

Wyoming vs. Oregon; Saturday 2pm

Big game.  Huge.  Wyoming doesn't hide from anyone.  They also go to Michigan State later this year.

Do they cover against the Ducks?  44 is the number.  I don't love their chances, but I'll be rooting for him.

Goodluck Cowboys!

Roger Goodell embarrassed himself again with his interview on CBS with Norah O'Donnell. She did a great job, but I want this guy to get a shot.

Maryland Is More Patriotic Than You

How about these uniforms for Saturday's game?  The lyrics to the Star-Spangled Banner are on the shoulder and helmet.  That's also an outline of Fort McHenry on the helmet. The Fort, of course protected Baltimore from the British during the War of 1812.

Thanks to USA Today for picture and story.
